The Keller-Lamar Health Foundation (KLHF) has developed a series of web-based assessments designed for the measurement of cognition, mood, and health related quality of life in a geriatric population. A clinical trial is currently underway at the Clinical Psychology Department at the Louisiana State University to validate the various components of the web-based assessment. We anticipate the clinical trial validation study will conclude in early 2019, and the data from that effort to be reported soon thereafter.

The web-based assessment package will allow for the standardized delivery of high quality and valid assessments, as well as the efficient collection of study subject demographics. The oversite and delivery of assessments does not require an experienced psychometrist, or staff with previous assessment experience, due to the self-contained assessment delivery and data capture within the assessment platform. The KLHF staff will provide training and detailed information on the assessments to all KLHF collaborators and partners. All data collected as part of the web-based assessments is securely stored and directly available to the individual sites delivering the KLHF web-based assessments. The administrator page within the platform allows for the assignment of individual staff roles, facilitates data organization, and rapid data analysis.

Please contact the KLHF if you are interested in learning more about the KLHF web-based platform, or to learn about KLHF partners in your area.

Cognitive measures within the KLHF assessment platform are designed to capture the components found within the Preclinical Alzheimer Cognitive Composite.  Components include global cognition, timed executive function, and episodic/semantic memory. The cognitive assessments also include a novel name, hobby, and face recognition task.

Mood measures within the KLHF assessment platform are designed to measure different aspects of mood, including depression and anxiety, within a geriatric population. A health-related quality of life measure is also included in the KLHF web-based package.

Additional features incorporated into the KLHF web-based platform include a novel mechanism for the capture of study subject demographics, fall risk, physical activity level, and driving history. These different web-based assessment components, as well as future components, will be available for KLHF sites to use in order to successfully accomplish their goals.
